Taking into consideration the importance of science in the process of building up society and establishing a healthy generation, not forgetting the critical extremely difficult situation of war and destruction in Syria, and the need to make up the educational, ethical and scientific losses of war, Idleb University was the spot of light for broken dreams and astray ships taking them away from temptation.
The University of Idlib was reopened (because it was already established in 2009 but due to situation of conflict, it stopped working in 2015 and welcomed students in 2016). Hence, the administration of the university established new faculties and institutes that meet the academic and scientific standards and satisfy the needs of society. In the academic year 2015-2016, the more than 4500 students enrolled in the faculties and institutes of the university. This figure has increased significantly in the academic year 2016-2017 in which, more than 6500 students enrolled in the faculties of the university. In 2017-2018, the number of students nearly reached 10500 students and this number would have doubled had it not been for the poor financial condition of people in the Northern areas of Syria.
It is worth mentioning that Idleb University is an public, non-for-profit, academic institution that is independence administratively and financially from any political or military interventions and it has its scientific and administrative council. The new university president was elected by the Academic General Assembly of the university. In 2017, Idleb University had successfully achieved the membership Higher Education Council, which was formed in 2017.
The University of Idleb seeks to achieve international academic recognition for its degrees. The university also plans to provide scientific and academic studies in major scientific approaches for its students.

It is important to highlight the fact that it is very difficult for students to pay the fees of registration and so, many of them cannot enroll due to the financial difficulty.
